Leemei Tan is an author, food stylist, photographer and food blogger. Lemongrass and Ginger: Vibrant Asian Recipes is her debut cookbook, published by Duncan Baird Publishers in April 2012. Leemei writes an award-winning blog called My Cooking Hut which was featured recently in The New York Times. She was also named one of the best female food bloggers by Grazia magazine.
Leemei was born and raised in Malaysia, a country well known for culinary diversity stemming from its multi-ethic population.
Good food has always been important to her. She is passionate about making it, writing about it, photographing it, and of course eating it! Her motto is “fresh, unfussy, delicious, and healthy”.
Leemei began specializing in food photography over 5 years ago. She loves photographing anything from raw ingredients to cooked dishes. Her experience allows her to not only prepare recipes, but also style and photograph them appropriately for any commercial application. She has large collection of her own props and she can easily source anything she doesn’t have on hand.
Her goal is to bring her passion and skills together to create rich and elegant food and still-life photography with images of high visual representation for product & packaging, advertising and editorial clients. She can work in her daylight-filled home studio with fully equipped kitchen or go on location as necessary.
